As a flight attendant, Shelia lived for the rush of takeoff and the feeling of being up in the air. She loved the way the engines hummed beneath her feet, the way the cabin lights glowed softly in the dimness, and the way the passengers’ excitement bubbled over during the ascent. For Lena, the job was more than just a way to travel the world; it was a lifestyle.
She spent long hours in the air, serving passengers, making sure everyone was comfortable, and dealing with any unexpected issues that might arise. Despite the challenges, Shelia found joy in her work. She loved meeting people from all walks of life, hearing their stories, and sharing their experiences. She felt like she was part of a global community, connected by the wonder of flight and the thrill of exploring new places.
Up in the air, Shelia felt free, unencumbered by the worries of everyday life. For a few hours at a time, she could forget about everything else and simply be present at the moment, surrounded by the endless blue sky and the promise of adventure.
Despite her love for flying, Shelia knew that not every flight would be smooth sailing. On a particularly turbulent flight to Chicago, Shelia felt her stomach drop as the plane jolted and shook in the air. As a seasoned flight attendant, Shelia knew how to stay calm and reassure her passengers, but she couldn’t help the anxiety that crept up on her as the turbulence continued.
She gripped the handrail tightly and took deep breaths, trying to steady her nerves. The passengers looked nervous too, their faces pale and their eyes wide with fear. Shelia made her way down the aisle, offering a reassuring smile and a calming word to each one. She could feel the tension in the air, the sense of uncertainty and vulnerability that came with being at the mercy of the elements.
Despite the chaos of the turbulence, Shelia knew that she had a job to do. She checked on the passengers, made sure they were safely buckled in and continued to serve them with a smile, even as the plane rocked and shook around her. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the turbulence subsided, and the plane glided smoothly into a clear sky. Shelia let out a sigh of relief and smiled at her passengers, grateful that they had all made it through the rough patch together.
When a man and a teenage girl boarded a flight from Seattle to San Francisco, Alaska Airline flight attendant Shelia Frederick was suspicious.
The man was smartly dressed while the girl wasn’t and she refused to make eye contact with anyone.
While doing her job aboard the plane, Shelia could not stop wondering about the girl and eventually hatched an ingenious plan that took real courage. Courage meant this young girl was saved from a dangerous situation.
Shelia couldn’t ignore the girl and desperately tried to make eye contact while she served snacks on board the flight.
She conveyed her suspicions to a colleague and the two worked together to distract the man while Shelia tried to get the girl’s attention.
“Girl finally looked up and the look in her eye was just heartbreaking, so I excused myself to go to the back and I just broke down,” Shelia said in an interview on Good Morning Britain.
The story continues
She hatched an ingenious plan whereby she put a piece of paper and a pencil in one of the plane’s bathrooms and then locked it with the aim of unlocking it only for the girl.
While her colleague had the man’s attention Shelia mouthed the bathroom and then mimed writing. She then waited and hoped the girl understood.

Left a piece of paper and a pen in the bathroom. Thankfully the girl excused herself to use the bathroom. The man stayed with her outside the bathroom but Shelia refused to leave the area, keeping a close watch on the man.
“I left a note in one of the bathrooms,” Shelia said. “She wrote back on the note and said, ‘I need help.’”
Shelia alerted the pilot who contacted ground control to organize for authorities to stop the man on landing.

After a long and exhausting trip, Shelia was eager to return home to her family and friends. She missed the familiar comforts of her own bed, the smell of her favorite coffee shop, and the sound of her dog’s excited barks.
As she made her way through the airport, Shelia couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief and excitement at the thought of coming home. She was looking forward to catching up with her loved ones, sharing stories of her travels, and taking some much-needed time off. When she finally stepped out of the airport and into the warm embrace of her family, Shelia felt a sense of contentment wash over her.
She hugged her parents tightly, laughed with her siblings, and petted her dog until he was wagging his tail with happiness. Over the next few days, Shelia settled back into her routine, enjoying the simple pleasures of home. She went for walks in her favorite park, visited her favorite coffee shop, and caught up with old friends.
As much as she loved the thrill of flying and the excitement of exploring new places, Shelia knew that there was no place like home. She felt grateful for her job as a flight attendant, which allowed her to see the world and connect with people from all walks of life, but she also felt grateful for the familiar comforts of home.
In the end, Shelia knew that home was where her heart truly belonged, and she was happy to be back where she belonged, surrounded by the love and support of her family and friends.
