Social media erupted when the U.S. launched its war in Iran, with many demanding that Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, enlist as well. Now, a television anchor is publicly criticizing the 20‑year‑old for not joining the military.
The conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate. It has been over a month since Donald Trump initiated military action against Iran, and there is still no end in sight.
At the same time, frustration has grown toward Trump and his family, who have supported the war despite none of them having served in the armed forces.
But that could change. Barron Trump recently turned 20, making him eligible to enlist. From the moment the Iran war began, social media users were already urging him to sign up.
One person wrote, “Why not show that famous Trump patriotism by sending Barron to fight Iran?”
Another added, “At least one Trump should prove how patriotic they are by serving instead of grifting.”
A third post read, “#SendBarron. It would show real solidarity with our troops and appreciation for their sacrifices.”
Someone else commented, “If you vote for leaders who love war, maybe you or your kids should be first in line to explain why it’s worth it.”
Barron Trump branded “more spoiled than a princess” Some critics also accused Trump of escalating the war while staying far from danger. One user wrote, “POTUS is relaxing at his country club while starting WWIII. #SendBarron.”
Now that Barron has turned 20, the calls for him to enlist have only intensified. On the U.S. network MS NOW, anchor Lawrence O’Donnell became the latest to weigh in.
O’Donnell accused Barron of being “spoiled” for not enlisting and suggested he was avoiding service.
“After celebrating his 20th birthday in lavish style last week, he could have walked straight into a recruiting station and joined the army to fight in his father’s war,” O’Donnell said on The Last Word, according to the NY Post.
He went on to note that President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four sons all served in WWII, and that Queen Elizabeth joined the war effort as a teenager.
“Does Barron Trump know how to drive? Could he drive an ambulance in the Army, or is he not as tough as 18‑year‑old Princess Elizabeth was?” O’Donnell said. “Imagine being more spoiled than a princess on her way to becoming queen. That’s what it means to be a Trump — more spoiled than the British royal family.”
Why Barron Trump may be exempt from service While the Trump family has little history of military service — with Donald Trump reportedly avoiding the draft due to a doctor’s claim of bone spurs — Barron’s situation may come down to something unexpected: his height.
Men turning 20 are among the first to be drafted in a lottery year. Now that Barron has reached that age, he is technically eligible. However, he may be exempt for medical reasons — though not the kind people usually think of.
At 6’7″, Barron may be too tall for several military roles, especially those involving tight spaces like tanks, armored vehicles, and aircraft, according to The Mirror. The U.S. Army has a height limit of 6’8″ for many positions, meaning Barron could be disqualified.
