An attendee at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner has gone viral after appearing to continue eating his meal while other guests reacted to gunfire.
The event, held inside the ballroom of the Washington Hilton hotel on Saturday, April 25, was abruptly interrupted when a suspect — identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen — opened fire.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., gunshots rang out at the venue, causing panic among the roughly 2,000 guests inside the ballroom. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania, along with other senior figures in the Trump administration, were quickly escorted out by Secret Service agents, while journalists and guests took cover under tables.
Amid the chaos, however, one man appeared noticeably less disturbed than those around him.
As Trump and others were rushed away from danger, a guest seated near the stage continued eating from his plate.
Video footage of the moment has since gained widespread attention online, with the clip amassing over eight million views on X. “How the hell is he eating when there is chaos?” one user wrote.

Another commented: “Guarantee he said ‘I’m too old for this s***’. Accepted whatever might come.”
The shots were fired by a suspect who allegedly attempted to breach a security checkpoint while armed with multiple weapons, including a shotgun, handgun, and knives. Before being subdued by law enforcement, he fired a shot that struck a Secret Service officer, whose bulletproof vest prevented serious injury.
The shooter has been identified as Cole Thomas Allen, 31, from Southern California. According to The Guardian, he has no prior criminal charges in Los Angeles, though investigators are now reviewing a manifesto he reportedly wrote before the attempted attack.

The manifesto is said to include a list of targets ranked by priority, with Trump administration officials appearing at the top.
President Trump said he hopes the event — an annual tradition dating back to the 1920s — will be rescheduled within the next 30 days.
“I don’t want to see it be canceled,” he said. “I think it’s really bad for a crazy person to be able to cancel something like this.”
