Catherine Zeta-Jones surprised fans after revealing there’s another man she’s completely crushing on—and she insists husband Michael Douglas is “just fine with it.”
For more than two decades, Catherine Zeta-Jones, 56, and Michael Douglas, 81, have remained one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, balancing fame, family life, and constant public attention in a way few celebrity marriages manage to survive.
“I met her in the bar and was a total gentleman,” Douglas told People of his first meeting with the Wales-born star, who caught his attention after appearing in 1998’s The Mask of Zorro. Later that evening, while the two were sharing a “nightcap,” he told her, “You know, I’m going to be the father of your children.”
Walking the red carpet with her husband in 2019, Zeta-Jones addressed his earlier prediction:
“You know what the worst thing is? He was right,” she quipped in an interview with Access.
The pair, who married in 2000, share two children: son Dylan (born 2000) and daughter Carys (born 2003).

Despite a brief separation in 2013, they have continued to show the kind of affection that fans rarely see from longtime Hollywood couples.
“I’m crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we’re all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most,” he said during a 2015 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He continued, “We’re back stronger than ever.”
The couple has continued to speak openly over the years about the realities of marriage under constant public attention, while showing that their bond has endured through every challenge.
In November 2025, Zeta-Jones celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a heartfelt Facebook post reflecting the easy chemistry they still share.
“25 years ago today, I walked down the aisle. The intoxicating aroma of flowers, the glow of the candles, the resounding harmonious Welsh choir, and you at the end of the long walk waiting for me, looking at me the way only you can. I love you today as I did then. Thank you sweetheart,” she captioned the post alongside photos of the couple over the years.
Age is ‘just maths’
Their relationship has often sparked discussion because of their 25-year age gap, something the actress recently addressed in an interview with The Telegraph.
“We’ll walk around a golf course together for four hours at a time. We have a lot of serious similarities too,” said the Ocean’s Twelve star. “We were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We’re just very good with one another, we respect each other, and I never really feel that he’s 25 years older than me.”
She added, “I remember people saying, ‘When you’re 50, he’s going to be 75.’ Well, that’s just maths.”
That confidence in their relationship may also explain why her husband is “fine” with her celebrity crush. During the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, Zeta-Jones openly confessed her love for Lionel Messi as Argentina faced France in one of the most dramatic matches of the tournament.
The tense showdown ended 3–3 before Argentina won in a penalty shootout, securing Messi the World Cup title many fans felt had been missing from his legendary career.

As celebrations unfolded, Zeta-Jones shared a video on Instagram capturing her emotional reaction to the final moments.
“The best match I have ever seen, ever!!! Look, I support Paris Saint Germain, why, one wonders, I love the French, speak it too, my heart goes out to you,” the Wednesday star captioned the clip. “But you have to understand, I love MESSI and the best bit?…my husband is just fine with it. (Heart emoji) no need to…so don’t cry for me or anybody else, Argentina!!!! OLE!!!”
In another post, she shared an image of Messi kissing the World Cup trophy, writing, “And God created Messi.”
